Bluets, a literary magazine that featured prose, poetry, and art by students, was published by our University for many decades beginning in 1929. This 1938 edition was co-edited by the influential author, conservationist, and activist Wilma Dykeman ’38 in the year of her graduation and on the eve of World War II.
Likely in response to global tensions, the brief poem above entitled “War!” is opposite an illustration in which the edges of the top border of the serene landscape scene fall away, setting a subtly ominous tone for the spread. Headwaters—today’s literary and creative arts magazine—features content engaging contemporary themes from students, faculty, and staff.
