Renowned classical pianist and Adjunct Lecturer Hwa-Jin Kim and several music colleagues including Associate Professor and Chair of Music Brian Felix performed in concert Friday, Oct. 25 in UNC Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium. An additional “star” of the evening was the piano itself—a new Yamaha CFX full concert grand piano, generously provided to the university by Piano Emporium of Asheville for this special performance.
A leader in classical music education and performance in Asheville, Kim has been dazzling audiences since an appearance at age seven on the MBC television station in her native Daegu, South Korea. As a member of UNC Asheville’s music faculty and a member of the Asheville Area Piano Forum, she has founded and directs UNC Asheville’s summer Piano Camp, and founded the Asheville Chopin Club.
