A little music can brighten even the dreariest day. Through the Window Serenade Project, students in quarantine were treated to special performances by their peers in the Music Department.
UNC Asheville has gone up from eighth place to seventh in the nation among public liberal arts universities according to U.S. News and World Report’s new “2021 U.S. News Best Colleges." Also according to U.S. News, UNC Asheville was listed in the Undergraduate Business Programs, Undergraduate Engineering Programs, and Undergraduate Computer Science Programs.

Greenfest is a series of campus highlighting sustainability, students, and community. This year included events ranging from virtual and social distancing activities across campus such as volunteering to planting. This semi-annual celebration highlights 2020 sustainability achievements for UNC Asheville while also brining the campus community together.
UNC Asheville won the 2020 Carolina Recycling Association Annual Recycling award and for the second year in a row the university has been designated a Tree Campus.
This Fall Greenfest took place from Monday, September 21st to Saturday, September 26th with events such as Meet Your Farmer, Leave No Trace Yoga, and Nature Poetry Night.
Caroline Dockery's degree in art from UNC Asheville has helped with her photography skills in order to promote her small business. Her giant cookie idea was inspired by her mother, a full-time baker, which she fell in a deep passion for at the end of her college career. Dockery is planning on getting more involved with the Asheville community by taking business workshops and growing her business while using her skills and the connections she made at UNC Asheville.
UNC Asheville is committed to keeping the campus as sustainably as possible. We pride ourselves on being a tree and bee campus by planting trees and taking care of our campus bee hotel. Asheville students take care of our campus gardens while also managing stormwater and other necessary nature friendly activities. Each semester we celebrate our achievements in sustainability by having GreenFest and Farm to Table Dinner. UNC Asheville also offers clubs/organizations such as the Student Environmental Center and Active Students for a Healthy Environment(A.S.H.E). Our university has put in place many ideas and operations to make our campus as sustainably as possible such as waste reduction, green buildings, bike lanes as well as implementing opportunities for students to practice sustainability, in and out of the classroom.

UNC Asheville's SGA dedicated a whole week to openminded discussion and unity across campus. Following virtual zoom meetings to social distance, events allow for an honest, safe, and critical understanding across the topics that are happening in our world today. Events included the painting of a Black Lives Matter mural by students on campus.
Ramsey Library now features banners for Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ, and the Cherokee land acknowledgment. These symbols remind us of the work we must undertake collectively within the framework of the education we provide, the ideas and activities we engage, the culture we create on this campus, and the ways we partner and interact with our broader community.
The university also launched diversity.unca.edu, established a UNC Asheville Campus Buildings and Spaces Review Working Group, and is developing the UNC Asheville Racial Justice Roadmap.
UNC Asheville students share the ways they got involved in the community over this summer despite the pandemic, students still were able to make a difference from voter registration drag show, promoting access to food and wellness education, social media, and creating internships.
Due to COVID, UNC Asheville campus is required to wear face masks. Students share why it's important to keep themselves and everyone safe while expressing themselves.
