Abena Boakyewa-Ansah is the newest addition to the History department on campus. Having taught for three years, Abena looks forward to introducing students to new ideas and methods, and learning even more from her colleagues.

Johnathan Brown has taught Economics for 12 years, and he’s thrilled to teach a new FYS course about Healthcare Economics and the life of Zelda Fitzgerald.
Fun Fact: Johnathan wrote his dissertation on contract negotiation with data from Major League Baseball.
Kristen Daniels Dotti joins UNCA’s Biology department. Even after teaching for 32 years, Kristen is most looking forward to meeting her students and diving into fresh perspectives and feeding their curiosity.
Fun Fact: Kristen has taken a recent obsession with pickleball.
Louise Deroualle comes to the Art and Art History department having taught ceramics to all ages in the community and academia for 25 years. She is most looking forward to helping students develop ideas and shape their skills.
Fun Fact: Louise was born in São Paulo, which is one of the biggest cities in the world, with over 30 million people.
Muhammad Nawaz comes to the Economics department with 8 years of teaching experience and a passion for education in the undergraduate system. He looks forward to teaching at UNCA, and to dive deep in the study of economics.
Fun Fact: Muhammad likes to travel around the world and loves interacting with students.
Emily Eng joins UNCA as a first time faculty, having taught Music in her graduate program at University of Georgia. She’s looking forward to making music and connections with the students in her program.
Fun Fact: Emily plays tennis recreationally, and is currently on the lookout for a tennis community in Asheville!
Joshua Vadeboncouer has taught Management and Accountancy for four years, and he’s excited to join, contribute knowledge, and learn from the wider UNC Asheville community.
Fun Fact: Joshua collects antique baseball memorabilia in his free time.
Lee Anne Mangone has taught Sociology and Anthropology for over 20 years, and she looks forward to working with UNCA students and implementing their goals for their studies in a meaningful and impactful way.
Fun Fact: Lee Anne’s first concert was the Bay City Rollers
Christene Lynch joins UNC Asheville’s Physics and Astronomy department. Having taught for two years, she’s excited to prepare and design her first astronomy course here on campus.
Fun Fact: Christene lived in Australia for 7 years before moving back to the US.
Michael Sarris is new to UNC Asheville, and after teaching Computer Science for 10 years, he’s looking forward to meeting students and learning about the community here at Asheville.
Fun Fact: Michael enjoys baking, origami, singing and playing music, and he’s building a nerd cave to house his collections of classic video games and toys.
Catherine King has 22 years of teaching experience in Environmental Studies, and through her Honors course, she’s looking forward to taking students on field trips around Asheville.
Fun Fact: Catherine completed the Mountains to Sea Trail through-hike on 7/22/22
Lucian Undreiu joins the Physics and Astronomy department here at UNC Asheville. Having taught for 17 years, Lucien looks forward to meeting his new students and making new connections with colleagues.
